It’s summer here in the Northern Hemisphere and time for holidays and vacation travel. Certainly it is a time of year when things naturally seem to slow down and you get to catch up on those books you haven’t read, dip your toes in the water and breathe a bit more deeply. You may tend, if you are like me, towards the work ethic of the perpetually busy and the perpetually behind on whatever massive ‘to-do’ list you are toting around in your I-pad.
You might even find it hard to relax and just do “nothing” when your vacation holiday rolls around, even if you’ve been waiting for it all year. It can be hard to un-plug literally and figuratively and really believe the world is going to keep spinning without you.
But what if you could take a holiday anytime you want?
After all, it is really your inner world which needs to stop spinning in order for you to truly relax. And I’m not talking about using your ‘relaxation time’ to come up with new, creative ways to organize your recycling or to squeeze even more activities in your already crowded day.
Nope – not at all.
True relaxation calls you to the void – the still space within that allows for something new and innovative to come forward. Now just in case the word ‘void’ is scaring you off, back yourself down from visualizing your life as heading into a black hole. The void I am speaking of is just that space inside that you notice when all the distractions of the outside world aren’t commanding your attention.
The void may make you anxious – you have to be patient and comfortable with silence and the unknown to really welcome the void. But I can assure you that the void is one of your nearest and dearest friends.
In the void the voice you finally hear is your own. And if you pay attention it tells you what you truly need – not what you SHOULD be doing to keep everyone else happy – but what YOU truly need to be happy yourself.
So to help you take a holiday right now or at any time you feel the need I am sharing my guided visualization that will have you connecting with Divine Light and Love in a setting of sand and surf. So, even if you are in the midst of winter downunder, no worries. All you have to do is close your eyes and take a mini-trip to the beach.
Take inner you off to the sand and find again the light within.
As you do you’ll hear that inner voice and return to your life and work refreshed.
